You may qualify for help with your Council Tax through Council Tax Benefit. Enter the actual Council Tax bill you pay, after any discount or reduction for disabilities. For instance, if only one person lives in a property, they qualify for a 25% discount on their Council Tax bill. You should receive this discount automatically when you register for Council Tax. Please enter your Council Tax bill after the 25% discount. When working out how many people live in a property, some people are not counted. These are called people who are disregarded. If everyone who lives in the property is disregarded, there will still be a Council Tax bill but there will be a 50% discount. Do not include any water charges or water rates in the amount you enter. Council Tax Benefit can not help with water charges or water rates If you are eligible for Pension Credit (guarantee credit), Income Support, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Jobseeker's Allowance (income-based) you qualify for maximum help with your Council Tax. But you can still qualify for some help from your local council even if you do not get these benefits.
